Nearly 400 tonnes of nickel-containing stainless steel were used for the framework supporting a new cladding system inside the Queensway tunnel as part of a major refurbishment project. As well as having sufficient durability and robustness, the system was designed to minimise installation time (and hence tunnel closure).
