Contemporary engineer experts such as Władysław Jaxa-Rożen of Bombardier Transportation North America in Montreal, Canada, insist that austenitic stainless steels are the perfect material for rail car manufacturing. “Cold-worked stainless steels are ideal for rail cars,” says Jaxa-Rożen, adding: “They have high strength, attractive aesthetic qualities, give long life, and are easy to manufacture.”
