Pure Nickel & Other Alloys

Pure nickel is used for its corrosion resistance in the chemical industry – particularly for its resistance to alkalis.  It is also used in for its electrical and magnetic properties in shielding against electromagnetic interference and in transducers.  The powder is used in rechargeable batteries.  It is also used in catalysts.

Nickel plays an important role in alloys which have been developed for specific purposes, e.g. for heating elements, stable electrical resistance elements, thermocouples, sparking plug electrodes.
