The making of a good meal

The Nickel Institute’s new publication Nickel in Tomorrow’s World highlights the role of nickel and nickel-containing materials in responding to the opportunities and challenges presented by megatrends. There can be no surprise that food security – how to ensure it for an increasing population with rising quality-of-life expectations – was one of the seven megatrends examined. This issue of Nickel reflects that theme. The stories all start from and come back to the ability of nickel-containing materials to be strong, robust, and easy to work with. When speaking of food security, the most important of all is the ability to repeatedly and aggressively clean and sanitize stainless steel surfaces as a vital defence against contamination and spoilage.
