Nickel in the Flue (1300)
A comprehensive treatment of the performance of nickel alloys used in flue gas desulfurization scrubbing systems is assembled in this bulletin. Corrosion data are reported from Inco's corrosion test spool data bank and plant corrosion tests under actual process conditions. Alloy performance is given for flue gas scrubbing systems which have gained commercial status as well as other wet scrubbing systems. Methods are discussed for the use of scrubbing systems to meet the stringent SO2 emission regulations set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
