Building Materials (12013)
Published by Japan Stainless Steel Association and the Nickel Development Institute, December 1998. The durability and diversity of surface finishes on stainless steel are essential attributes for building materials in modern architecture. Stainless steel is used in a wide variety of applications ranging from facades and roofs covering spacious convention halls to street furniture and sculptures. Such stainless steel structures impart a rich and distinctive atmosphere to townscapes. In architectural applications, S30400 and S31600 stainless steels have been most commonly used. In addition to these steels, many grades with improved corrosion resistance have been developed and put into practical use. A proper cleaning and maintenance routine is also essential to retain the beauty of stainless steel building materials.
