Safe Use of Nickel in The Workplace

Investigation into the toxicological effects of nickel salts on animals was first reported in 1826. Since that time, numerous reports and papers have been generated on the human health and environmental effects of nickel.

National Occupational Exposure Limits

The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), voted to adopt the 1997 proposed TLVs for nickel and its compounds at their 1998 meeting of the members. The 1997 proposed TLV values for nickel compounds were based upon conversion factors for the relative efficiencies of the 37 mm and IOM sampling devices.
